replacing the IPS LCD panels found on their predecessors, the Xiaomi Pad 6 and Pad 6 Pro. But it looks like the company will not be shipping just any OLED panel. A leak by Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu suggests Xiaomi will fit the Pad 7 series with a dual-layer OLED display.

While Honor was the first to introduce this technology with the Magic 6 Ultimate, it gained popularity with its debut in the 2024 iPad Pro. Dual-layer OLED increases the lifespan of a panel and offers improved brightness compared to single-layer OLED displays. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is also rumored to feature a dual-layer OLED panel. Additionally, the tipster claims that Huawei and Honor are also planning to release “high-performance flagship tablets” with dual-layer OLED displays by the end of 2024, though the tipster didn’t mention the names of these tablets.

The Xiaomi Pad 7s will go head and head with them. The Pad 7 Pro, in particular. It is said to have the current best Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor on board. The Pad 6 Pro has 8+ Gen 1 SoC, so it will be a significant performance improvement.

The company has already completed the certification process for two devices in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEC), model numbers “24091RPADG” and “2410CRP4CG”. According to reports, these two devices should be the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro. Their launch is expected sometime in September this year.
