SenseTime announced today that it had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Unicom during the 2024 China Unicom Partner Conference held on July 19-20. According to the agreement, both companies will carry out diversified cooperation in the field of large language models to improve their AI infrastructure and provide it to the industry as a service.
The partnership also combines their resources to jointly work on LLMs. Yang Fan, co-founder of SenseTime and president of the Large Device Business Group, said that the compute and the data will be used to improve their AI infrastructure, thereby reducing the cost and threshold for using AI in various products. Speaking of the collaboration between operators and AI companies, Yang Fan believes that the advantages of AI companies lie in their technical platforms and software capabilities, while the advantages of operators lie in their massive scenario coverage. The cooperation between the two parties should contribute to and better promote the development of LLMs.
SenseTime announced its plan last month to allot Class B shares, raising a total of HK$2.008 billion. Multiple investors and leading overseas companies have already invested in the company, and existing shareholders have increased their holdings. This fund will reportedly be used in AI research and the development of software products that benefit from the AI research.
