Huawei Nova Flip teaser video released, August 6 launch date confirmed

Several reports have claimed that Huawei will unveil the Nova 13 series of smartphones in August in China. The lineup should include a couple of phones, such as the Nova 13, Nova 13 Pro, and Nova 13 Ultra. However, the company hasn’t officially confirmed these devices yet. Today, however, the company released a video teaser to showcase the design of its first Nova-branded flip phone, the Huawei Nova Flip, which is all set to go official on Aug. 6 in China. Huawei Nova Flip design revealed

Huawei has showcased the green edition of the Nova Flip in the teaser video. The device, on the inside, features a foldable screen with a punch-hole design. The device features a volume rocker and a power key on the right, both of which integrate with a fingerprint sensor.

The top edge of the Nova Flip has a microphone, and its bottom edge has a SIM slot, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. At present, there is no information available about the specifications of the Nova Flip. Huawei also sells Pocket-branded flip phones in China. In February of this year, the company announced the Pocket 2 equipped with the Kirin chipset for 7,299 Yuan. (~$1,000). The Nova Flip, targeting the younger generation through its Nova sub-brand, is likely to feature sub-flagship or midrange specs.

In related news, Huawei is also working on the Mate 70 series of flagship phones. Early reports suggested an announcement in the third quarter of this year. However, now that the Nova 13 lineup is expected to break cover in Q3, it appears that the Mate 70 lineup could be pushed back to Q4.
