Google Pixel Watch 3 leak suggests brighter display, faster charging, IoT integration

Something to look forward to: Google is expected to unveil the Pixel Watch 3 at its “Made by Google” event on August 13, and several leaks over the past few weeks have given us a pretty good idea about what to expect from the upcoming wearable. The latest of these gives us a look at what’s said to be official promo material for the Pixel Watch 3.Google Pixel Watch 3 leak suggests brighter display, faster charging, IoT integration

The leak comes courtesy of Android Headlines and confirms that the Watch 3 series will include two models. While the smaller one will have a 41mm dial like the Pixel Watch 2, Google is also prepping to introduce a larger 45mm variant in line with newer Wear OS watches that come with increasingly bigger dials and larger screens.

The marketing material seems to indicate that the smaller model will have a screen that is 10 percent larger than that of the Watch 2, while the 45mm version will offer a screen that is 40 percent larger than the existing model’s screen. This could also mean slimmer bezels than the Pixel Watch 2, which would be a welcome change.

Both models will reportedly feature Google’s “Actua” display technology with 2,000 nits of peak brightness. For context, the Pixel Watch 2 only has 1,000 nits of peak brightness, meaning that the upcoming devices may offer much better visibility than their predecessor in direct sunlight. One of the images also claims that the Pixel Watch 3 will have an “ultra-responsive” display, suggesting that it might have a higher touch-sampling rate than the Watch 2.Google Pixel Watch 3 leak suggests brighter display, faster charging, IoT integration

The leaked promo material adds that both the Pixel Watch 3 models will offer around 24 hours of battery life with always-on display (AoD) enabled and up to 36 hours in Battery Saver Mode. The 41mm model is said to charge 20 percent faster than the Watch 2 does, but there’s no information on the charging speed of the 45mm model.

The leaked slides further suggest that the Pixel Watch 3 will feature the integration of Nest doorbell and camera feeds, allowing users to monitor their house from anywhere for improved security and peace of mind. Other software features include the ability to control the camera on Pixel smartphones and access Google Maps offline. Users will also be able to use Google Wallet to pay for public transport and more.
