She said that if she becomes the head of the committee, Musk is one of the people she would invite to speak on the matter. Butler’s competitor, Labour MP Chi Onwurah, has also agreed to this.
“It is vital for the committee to formally examine the use of algorithms in pushing hateful material — and the moderation of such content — on X and other social media platforms,” Butler said.

This new event comes as X faces legal problems in Brazil. Last week, the Brazilian Supreme Court blocked the platform because it refused to follow local laws, including failing to name a legal representative.
X is also criticized by the government for spreading false information connected to former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
