A new trailer has revealed an October 31 launch date for Dragon Age:

The Veilguard. Additional updates en route up to the release will provide more details about the game.

BioWare’s new RPG was previously titled Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but the company chose the new name to highlight the seven companions players will meet throughout the adventure. These party members represent various factions encountered in Veilguard’s storyline.

When the game was first unveiled in 2022, it was believed that Solas, a companion from Dragon Age: Inquisition, would assume a more villainous role in the sequel. However, recent footage reveals a more complex storyline featuring what appear to be two additional antagonists.

As in previous entries, Veilguard allows players to choose between three character classes:

Warrior, Mage, and Rogue, while also customizing party members’ abilities and equipment. Combat is action-oriented and takes place in real time, with a focus on controlling the player’s custom character.

The Halloween launch will be simultaneous on Steam, the Epic Games Store, the EA App, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles. The standard edition will cost $60 on PC and $70 on consoles. The deluxe edition, priced at $80, includes additional in-game cosmetics. BioWare is also offering a $150 bundle that contains a dagger, a deck of cards, a potion flask, and other items, but does not include the game. Veilguard’s system requirements are more forgiving than those of some recent major releases, landing close to those of Baldur’s Gate 3. BioWare’s upcoming RPG requires 16 GB of memory and 100 GB of storage, but it can run on relatively old mainstream GPUs. The minimum specs list an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290X, while the recommended specs include an RTX 2070 or Radeon RX 5700 XT.

BioWare plans to reveal more details about the console and PC version during the week of August 19. A deeper look into the companions will follow on August 26, with a Discord Q&A scheduled for August 30. Additionally, IGN will begin a month of exclusive coverage on September 3.
